Cohort 2: July 13-17
The heart of the Chinatown Arts Summer Camp program is creating a connection for Chinatown youth ages 13-18 to be in tune with their inner selves through artistic self- expression. During camp, they will gain creative agency and find their power through artistic practices that also bring them closer to the richness of available art within their neighborhood. They will explore a variety of mediums within this summer curriculum. The general cost of summer camps in New York City is exceedingly high and this program will be financially accessible with an available sliding scale to cater specifically to Chinatown families.
The Chinatown Arts Summer Camp Program will give comprehensive art exposure and focus on self-expression, which will build communication skills and intuition. The program will last for two weeks with two cohorts (1 week per cohort) during July 6-17, 2026, at New Design High School.
By the end of the program, everyone will have created a physical art portfolio ranging in a wide breadth of artistic practices including (but not limited to): writing, markers, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, collaging, and black and white ink. The program will also include one local museum visit and an urban landscape drawing day around Chinatown so that these kids will have exposure to the availability of an artistic practice wherever they go.
