With a little encouragement, Sophia is able to find her courage and learn what it takes to fly.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Cosmopolitan life defines Marie Tang in many ways. Born in Hong Kong, raised in New York City, and a resident of Shanghai for over a decade (before moving back to the States in 2020), she draws much of her inspiration from the unique characters and neon lights of the
“Big City.” While teaching literacy to kindergarteners, she recognized the correlation between reading aloud to children and future reading ability. She is dedicated to spreading this message to parents and caregivers. Marie proudly tells tales of grit, tenacity, compassion, and Asian culture. She is the author of Yuna’s Cardboard Castles (Beaming Books), Baba’s Peach Tree (Random House Studio), and Sophia Lee Can Fly (Disney Hyperion) the first in a two-book series. Yuna’s Cardboard Castles was named a Virginia Readers’ Choice Book for 2025–2026. Her forthcoming books include The Big Jump (Random House Studio), arriving in summer 2027, and the recently announced Belly Takes the Bus (Random House Studio).
